5S at Work, Monggo Recipe and Our Fun Weekend

It's already Tuesday loves and I've been meaning to share with you what my Friday at work and the family's weekend was made of.  As you read it, it was a fun one with a sweet ending for me and hubby.

First of all, to working ladies reading this, have you applied the 5S workplace management in your office?  For those not familiar, 5S office management is a name of a workplace organization method which applies the five Japanese words already translated to English.  5S means: Sort (which ones to retain, return or get rid of), Set in Order or organize stuff in short, Shine (make workplace spic and span), Standardize (maintain and make sort, set in order and shine a regular habit), and Sustain (keep it that way to make one more efficient at work.)  I heard there's an additional 3S and these are: Safety, Security and Satisfaction.

So last Friday, I got down my knees, kept my office shoes and other personal stuff (spell b-a-h-a-y) inside my pedestal and lateral cabinets.  It was actually a therapeutic activity because I discovered that I've been keeping trash in my work area that I don't use, accumulate dust and take up space. I'm proud to present to you my new (and hopefully sustainable) 5S work place:

So it's now just my desk with one magazine rack folder, my extension cord, my telephone, one plant, my water bottle (which I hide inside my pedestal) and my pedestal cabinet!  I forgot to take a 'before' picture of my desk, but I tell you, it was a mess and a bit cluttered.

Practical Shopping Finds
At home, it's inevitable that our room is messy with all the toys, books and (some) novelty supplies hanging around at every corner and also on the floor.  So instead of regularly putting everything in its place, when it's expected to be scattered again after fixing them, I thought of buying storage boxes where these could be easily stowed away.  I bought these lovely plastic woven boxes which match our room's theme: black, white and grey.  They are on BUY 1 TAKE 1 sale at Robinsons Galleria!
White and Black BUY 1 TAKE 1 Woven Plastic Baskets
P99.00 BUY 1 TAKE 1 at Robinsons Galleria
Sa BookSale book store naman, my favorite book store, I bought this parenting book for gifted children.  I found it interesting so I bought it for only Php 145.00!  Super mura and masustansyang purchase diba?  It gave me additional insights and understanding of how our children's personality types affect our parenting styles.
Saturday, the family just stayed home so I just cooked for the hungry family.  Simple lang, fried chicken and my thick and not soupy monggo.  What made it a little bit special was the bottle of Coke that says PAMILYA on its label.  F na F namin ang pagkain ng lunch! :)
Here's my Ginisang Monggo (Sauteed Mung Beans) Recipe:

  • 1 pack mung beans
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 medium sized tomato, quartered
  • 1 cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste
Boil mung beans while occasionally stirring until tender, then mash them.  Add water as needed.  On a separate pan, sautee the onion, tomato and garlic.  When mung beans are cooked and well mashed, add the sauteed onion, tomatoes and garlic.  Add salt and pepper to taste.  You may add malunggay leaves or ampalaya leaves.

S.S.S. (Sunday Swim and SPA)
Sunday was pretty packed with activities with the family.  We attended a luncheon party for hubby's cousin where the kids got to swim for a while.
#OOTD: On me - Juana Top, AE shorts from Surplus, Bananapeel sandals
On Wes: Nike set (Ninang's pasalubong from Dubai) and OshKosh shoes (sale for P500 only!)
He was just floating and not enjoying much, hence the facial expression.  haha!
This tweener undoubtedly loves the pool, doesn't mind getting dark (He applied Midori Sunscreen SPF 50)

Later that afternoon, I decided to use finally the massage GCs gifted to me by a sponsor at The Spa in Trinoma.  There's no other perfect way to end our sweet weekend than this.  I haven't submitted myself to a relaxing massage since my mom's passing (I was super stressed!) so I totally looked forward to this.
Family bonding is important to me every weekend.  It doesn't mean you have to go out and spend thousands in the mall or arcade or go shopping just to have fun.  Remember, PRESENCE is more important than PRESENTS for the children.  So spend as much time as you can with the kids and make sure you let them know how much you love them.

~How about you loves?  How was your weekend?  What fun adventures did you have with the fambam?~
