"Kapag nanganganak ka, parang nasa hukay na ang isa mong paa."

Do you believe that Filipino "kasabihan"?  I do.  It was in 2003 when I first became a mom, I was in my early 20s.  I will never ever forget that first experience of pregnancy, of the painful labor, the hilarious story of me being high on anesthesia during childbirth (I was talking about my properties, which I don't have), seeing the biggest baby in the nursery which belonged to me (he was 9.2 lbs), and most especially, the near-death experience due to internal hemorrhage 9 days after giving birth to my first born.
My nine-month preggy tummy
It was both the happiest and the lowest/depressing point in my life.  I've suffered from pain, trauma and sacrificed a lot but kept my presence of mind, pulled myself together and fought the weakness.  I came out stronger as a woman and as a MOTHER after that experience.  I survived.

Recalling that time sends shivers to me still but as a wiser person now, it was an experience that taught me a lot about faith, about sacrifices, about standing up, about being strong, all because I was already a MOTHER.  There's a tiny gift from God that you're responsible for.  To take care, to nurture, to teach and to LOVE.

It was only after seven years that I became pregnant again.  The nightmare of my first childbirth kept on coming back to me especially when I was in my third trimester.  But with prayers and stronger faith, God blessed me with a comfortable and almost painless childbirth and recovery.  He knew how difficult was my first, so He saved me from pain the second time around.

JOYS OF BEING A MOTHER
The greatest thing that happened to my life was when I became a MOTHER.  I love the part that pairs of lovely big eyes stare at me first thing in the morning with so much love and happiness.  I love the hugging, the kissing and the sweet voices calling me "MOMMY."  I love the feeling of satisfaction that I get whenever my first born performs well in school, academics or non-academics, and other parents come up to me to say congratulations.  I love it when I hear "Po" and "Opo" from their tiny voices.  I love it when in their own ways, they express how much they love me, through letters, through strokes of their hands on my face, through hugging and through holding my hand.  The greatest name I've ever been called was when my boys call me "MOMMY."
My first born at 6 months and my second baby at 3 months.

  18. Answer this question: What are your Joys of being a MOTHER?

one thing i've realized when I became a mom is that being a mother comes with a great responsibility. a commitment to be able to take good care of your children and nurture them to become a good citizen and christian too. it may sound cliche but it really makes me happy to see my kids wake up looking for me and would greet me good morning.. or those simple gestures that they will just ask for a hug or a kiss or tell you that they miss you even you just left the room for a few minutes. no matter how "magulo" and "kulit" they are.. they have those charm or magic spell to give in to what they want or eventhough i am scolding them at the top of my lungs and my children would say, "sorry mama, wag ka na galit please." yeah, it is tough to be a mom but also its fulfilling and uber dooper life changing. something that i won't ever regret getting into. i love you my dear babies.

  22. What are your Joys of being a MOTHER?
I am a teenage mother. I got pregnant when I am 19 but inspite of that I embrace the challenges and role of being a good mother. I am a mother of a 6 years old girl and 3 months from now I am my second baby. For me my joys of being a mother is when I raised her a good christian, a good child and and a role model to her younger brother.

My joys of being a mom are simple. It's being able to wake up next to my baby each day. It's being able to nourish him with my milk. It's being able to provide for him both his needs and wants (even when he doesn't appreciate them yet). It's being able to make him laugh. It's being able to put him to sleep at night.

My joys of being a mother is being able to hug and kiss my little one every single day. Being able to nourish him with my home made food and of course being able to provide him with the best nourishment I could give, my breastmilk. I love my son to bits and I am so joyful that my husband and I are blessed with such a sweet, happy and healthy baby. I really could not explain the feeling everytime I see my son because I always remember the time when he was still in my womb. Now, everytime I touch him, it reminds me that he came from inside of me, the feeling of his skin to my touch is so magical and it really makes me happy. I also feel overjoyed whenever I see my husband with my baby, I see the two most beautiful persons in my life! :-)

  36. Hi Louise, I wanna join too...
My joys of being a MOTHER?

When my kids were still babies... I love it when going to the mall, the first thing I look for was cute mittens, booties, new baby bag designs, branded baby shirts, cheap diapers, colorful baby bottles, scrapbook materials for my baby books, play area fees per hour and everything on those baby section!

When my kids started playing... I love it when I smell their armpits, kiss their wounded hands and knees, carry their water jug, spend hours in the park running and make merienda after.

Now that my kids started schooling... I love it when I buy, wrap and label each school supplies, make reviewers for them and attend school programs to watch them dance like no other.

My joys of being a mother never ends...

  38. I would have loved to say that it is the "I love you's and the hugs and kisses" that my little girls give me. But my 5 children are each unique and so do not have the same way of telling me how wonderful it is to be their mom. Emmuel is trying to learn to be responsible as the eldest kuya and I'm proud that he's making progress somehow. Yuan is the origami lover, and the one who likes to tinker with things. I really like the rose origami that he makes for me. Kristel is the one who reminds me of myself when it comes to being helpful with house chores and she likes to give little love notes. Janel likes to draw and I enjoy the story behind the images she draws especially her fantasies. Angel, the youngest, tries her best to help me whenever I am doing something, washing dishes, clothes, cooking, etc. And she's still the clingy one who often says "I love you, mom."

  57. The joys of being a mother is seeing my family : me my husband and my child enjoying our lives as one with God in the center and see my children grow up successfully as what I want them to be : virtuous, ethical and God-fearing.

  63. The joys of motherhood is infinitely incomparable. It starts as early as concepcion, culminating at the birth of your child. Being a mother seems like being born again, you literally grow with your child.

Seeing your child smile for the first time, hearing your child utter his/her first word are moments of pure
joy. Years swiftly pass and your child starts schooling. His/her academic achievements and every graduation day from Kinder, High school and college are such joyful occasions never to be forgotten.

As your child matures, lands his/her first job, you feel more so accomplished, your joy overflows.

Amidst trying times of being a mother, nothing compares to the joy that lies beyond.
