Last weekend, my baby reached his 28th week milestone!  Hurray!  I'm on my third - and FINAL - trimester!  I've been on bed rest for the past three weeks already.  So one of the things that kept me busy is reading books or online about anything pregnancy related.

I read that by the end of the seventh month (28 - 31 weeks), my baby will have more fat deposited under his skin and other features like the iris in his eyes, nails in his fingers, and hair are more developed.  With the fats depositing under the skin, the baby's features could now be more appreciated under 3D Ultrasound.

I've never had a 3D Ultrasound before because it used to so expensive.  But with the sprout of many  independent ultrasound clinics in Manila offering packages and lower rates compared to hospitals, my husband and I became more interested to have a 3D Ultrasound this time.

Apart from having a 3D Ultrasound I also want to have a Congenital Anomaly Scan (CAS) test for our baby.  The CAS is a more comprehensive scanning of the baby to see if he is developing normally, right for its size, and it can check and detect any abnormalities or defects.  Since I'm over 35, I fear that my health is not in its tiptop shape anymore, at least compared to my 20s.  So I just want to make sure that our baby is normal and healthy inside my tummy.

Being the practical person that I am, I could easily just go for a 2D CAS but since I haven't experienced a 3D Ultrasound, I want to have both but without hurting my pocket too much.  So for this reason, I started calling OB Ultrasound clinics near our residence for the best package.  Sharing my list to fellow pregnant mommahs out there:

Personally, my choice for a packaged price would be MDCare OB-Gyn Ultrasound Clinic.  For the price of Php 3.000 I get both the CAS and 3D Ultrasound and photos of at least 10 are already saved on CD.  If I'm only looking at getting a CAS, I'd go for again MDCare OB-Gyn Ultrasound Clinic or San Juan OB-Gyn Ultrasound Clinic which offers this scanning for only Php2,000.  If I only want 3D Ultrasound alone, I'd go for Top Health Med Clinic which offers this service for only Php 1,150 complete with OB report and at least 10 colored photos saved in CD.

Now, have you heard about 4D Ultrasound?  What's its difference from 3D?  Well, the 4D is just a term they use when the still 3D photos are put together to create a slide or moving photos.  You could actually do that on your own, as long as you have enough still photos of your baby during your 3D Ultrasound. :)  Some Ultrasound Clinics put a premium to the 4D Ultrasound by adding at least Php 1,000 to your 3D Ultrasound price.
