I'm on a month-long bed rest which means the family couldn't really go out of town during the Holy Week.  Besides, it's during this time when Metro Manila traffic is also on vacation.  So we decided to have a hotel staycation in Luxent Hotel, which is situated right in the very heart of Quezon City.  Don't worry, I asked my OB's clearance before I went out with the family.  She said, make the staycation, really a staycation by staying in bed. :)

Luxent Hotel is a place where business and entertainment meet.  It's located along Timog Avenue, making it accessible to popular bar and restaurants, entertainment complexes, other commercial centers, major media networks, and key government offices.  It certainly has a luxurious and grand ambiance but a one that's very accommodating and also family-friendly.  Perfect for both short business trips or family weekend getaway.

This wasn't the first time we've been to Luxent because back in 2013, our acoustic band called Euphony played every weekend at their Lush Bar & Lounge to entertain their hotel guests as well as our visiting friends.

Checking-in was a breeze because their courteous and competent front desk staff attended to us, as well as other guests, immediately.  We were given two (2) room key cards, Wi-Fi username and password, as well as appointed us a luggage assistance.  We were brought to the our room on the ninth floor, a non-smoking floor.

THE ROOM
We were billeted in a Superior Room which is perfect for a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) because the room is spacious enough with two Queen-sized beds.  Its other in-room facilities include: flat-screen TV with cable channels, DVD player, Free Wi-Fi Internet access, In-room safe, refrigerator with mini-bar set-up, complimentary coffee and tea-making facility, complimentary bottled water with daily replenishment, complimentary daily newspaper, individually controlled air-conditioning system, private bath with hair dryer, telephone, and in-room dining.

So where am I in all these?  I just stayed in because, as I've said, I'm still on a bed rest but in a different and more sosyal location.  I conveniently enjoyed the TV shows on cable, read a book, wrote some thoughts in my journal, and of course, got busy with social medial and games.  Thanks to the free and reliable Wi-Fi connection, I was able to keep myself busy during my solo time.

OTHER FACILITIES:
So while mommy's in the room, my boys explored the hotel.  Let me tell you a not-so-secret tip when booking a hotel for a staycation.  I have two requirements for choosing our hotel destination.  One, it has to have a swimming pool.  Two, it has to have bacon in its breakfast buffet menu.  Let's see if Luxent met these family staycation requirements.

My three boys discussing what to do during our stay.
They all decided to take a dip in the pool the moment we were settled.  Yup, we are a family who loves water activities and we're happy to stay in this hotel because they have a pool.  In fact they have two pools, adult and kiddie size.
Luxent Hotel Review
The swimming pool is located on the 6th floor of the hotel.
It boasts of its "AquaTrim" pool, which looks like a large aquarium.  You could see the people who swims in it, like my son shown in this photo.  What's nice about this is this adult pool overlooks the beautiful the city.

On the other part of the floor, you'll find the kiddie pool for babies (with adult supervision), toddlers, and young children.  This was where my little one spent most of his fun water times during our stay.  Sometimes, his kuya joined him so they could play water splash games with each other.

For health buffs, you'll find their fitness center also on the 6th floor near the swimming pools.
Fitness Center with complete work-out machines.
It's a fully equipped gym which has machines for cardio, weight-lifting, and some core-strengthening.

If you're like me who loves going to the spa for relaxation and rejuvenation, Reluxe Spa is located on the second floor of the hotel which opens at 1:00 pm and closes at 2:00 am.  Too bad, my husband and I weren't able to experience it because of my situation.  And he can't or doesn't want to have it solo, his massages were always with me.

Other facilities and features they offer are: Business Center, multilevel parking, multipurpose foyer (leading to the ballroom and function halls), Wi-Fi Internet access, 24-hour concierge and security, airport transfer, laundry/pressing/dry cleaning, and wake-up call.

It was a relaxing first day at the hotel because I just rested on the bed, but a different bed this time out of my regular but comfortable bed in the house.  My boys had fun in the pool, wrestling on the bed, and getting busy with their own gadgets at night.  We had good night's sleep and all we thought about before that deep shut eye was "what's for breakfast?" the following day.

BUFFET BREAKFAST
The free breakfasts which come with the room are served from 6:00 am til 10:00 am at Garden Cafe located at the ground floor near the lobby.
We went down at around 8:00 am for our breakfast and not surprisingly, Garden Cafe was jam-packed.  But there were still seats available for us four.

One of the important part of any staycation for me is the hotel's breakfast which comes free in every room.  I always wish there's bacon because that should be the standard of an excellent breakfast buffet experience right?  Let's see if they have bacon!

Anyway, let me tour you around their mouth-watering breakfast buffet spread:

Porride and Soup are for those like me who'd like to start breakfast with a warm tummy-filler.
Coffee, Tea, Fresh Melon Juice (my favorite), Orange juice, and Pink Lemondade drink-all-you-can!
On our plates were:
Waffle with lots of sweet toppings like chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, mallows, choco candies, honey, and whip cream.

I had my bowl of porride with hard-boiled egg, garlic, pepper, and onion leeks, squeeze some calamansi juice and it's a perfect breakfast buffet starter.
B-A-C-O-N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I couldn't tell you how ecstatic we were when I was handed a plateful of crunchy and tasty bacon!  Remember my staycation requirement #2 that the buffet breakfast has to have bacon on their breakfast menu?  Well, Luxury Hotel surely passed my breakfast buffet standards!!!
Milk and Cereal for the kids...
Cheesy, ham and bacon Pizza slices:
My husband and I had fried rice, danggit, omelette, fresh melon juice, and brewed coffee (for him, not for me!)
The breakfast experience won't be complete without dessert.  We chose to have a slice of this ironically heavenly but sinful Candy Crush Chocolate Cake.  It's also available at their Bread Indulgence Corner found at the ground floor.
Didn't we all look fully satisfied?  Well, I tell you, yes we were!  Just enough energy the boys needed to hit the pool again afterwards.
When they came back from the pool after showering.. here they were:
So while the boys were taking some nap, my husband went around the hotel for the last time to capture Luxent Hotel's other facilities for you, such as:
The Lush Bar and Lounge
Lush Bar & Lounge is where the weekend entertainment is held.
You could also order ala carte meals here morning til night.
Perfect for business meetings or reunion chika with friends.
Top view of the Lush Bar & Lounge, where you'll also see the check-in counter and lobby area.
Another view of the Lush Bar & Lounge which has a large seating capacity
for its guests having meals or meetings.
My kids love the sight of Luxent Hotel's ceiling which they said looks like a moon over their heads.
And, like what they say, details count in a hotel.  This famous "Vestibule" leads guests to the elevator either going to the room, the pool, fitness center, Reluxe Spa or the parking floors.
OVERALL REVIEW OF OUR HOTEL STAYCATION:
To sum up the experience of our weekend staycation, we were highly satisfied as Luxent Hotel was able to meet our hotel expectations.  It's not only a business hotel, but it certainly is family-friendly which is what we're really looking for.  The Superior Room has complete amenities and we weren't charged for anything extra we requested.  It's spacious and it's a good choice for family guests staying in.

The facilities and amenities are well-maintained and complete to be able to keep people, young and old, occupied, because there's always something to do in Luxent.  And even for guests like me, who couldn't move around, I still found something to do, thanks to their reliable Wi-Fi, their comfortable bed, soft pillows and sheets, and cable TV, boring was not a thing for this bed-rested mommah.

Their swimming pools are clean and actually enough to entertain my boys.  I appreciate having their Bread Indulgence Corner, because for times in a day when we just want to munch on something sweet but don't totally want to be too full for the day's main meal, we could just purchase cookies or bread there anytime.

The staff are all friendly, accommodating, competent and genuine.  We also highly recommend Sir Mike of the F&B who remembered us and was kind enough to give some sweet treats to my sons.  Now that's a genuine and heart-felt service that has a personal touch making it an awesome customer experience.  With that, we'll definitely be back for another weekend staycation or to unwind, to meet friends or to dine in with the whole family.
