A Mommy Diva, The Other Side of Me

The Mommy Diva, Club Filipino Event, 2012
Every MOM was or still is a somebody other than her mommy role. I believe that even if we have added the responsibilities of being a mother, we should not let ourselves go.  As long as we put our families our top priority, then there is nothing wrong about doing what our heart dictates us to do.  This could be anything from career, sidelines, business, sport, hobby or exercise to even learning new skills or going back to school.

I would like to share that I am a living proof that even if I am a busy with my motherhood, wifey and corporate career, I still assume the role of a "singing diva" from time to time.  Singing is one of my many passions that I could not just let go out of my system.  Fortunately, hubby is also a musician and is in the same band as I am.  We actually started as really good friends and as band mates, and the rest is history.

Our trio acoustic group is called The Euphony Band and we've  been together for six years and counting.  We started performing regularly in cafes, moved on to bars in Quezon City and Mandaluyong area, then graduated to hotel lounges during the first three years.  By regularly, I meant, 2-3 times a week eating up our 9:00 pm to 1:00 am schedule.  I took a break in 2010 when I was pregnant with my second child.  When we regrouped in 2011, we changed our direction and just accommodated private and corporate functions which is more friendly to our schedules.

I will continue doing this craft and serve my passion for as long as I still can hit the right notes, study new songs or dance to "Call Me Maybe" or "Gangnam Style."  I thank the Lord for blessing me with this talent and making me an instrument to add joy and entertainment to our clients' special occasions.  It has always been our honor to be part of our clients' celebration, for they have decided to entrust to us the life of their parties.  Should you have acoustic band needs, please feel free to contact me or "Like" our page on Facebook.

How about you?  What is your other side and what are your other passions?  I would love to know! :)

Hi, my first time here. And I love what you just said here in your post because I just forgot that! Because I am so focused on taking care of my kids and hubby, and doing the chores at home and going to my fulltime work, I sometimes forget that I am still a person, not just a mom and a wife.

I really like this post. Thanks. :)

...and as for the singing talent, wow! You must be so good to have all those gigs!

as I've said in my blog, I am the most vocally challenged person you will ever meet. Hayz. Anyway, that's life. We can't have it all. :)
