After the proposal last March (which you may read here), we've gone through one wedding expo and only four venues (that actually meant four cities - Laiya, Tagaytay, Antipolo and Manila) for ocular.  It's already August and I am panicking, but just a bit, because we're less than three months from the BIG DAY!  We finally decided on the venue, which has a partner caterer who could accommodate our small wedding, and the owner of the garden is genuinely nice.  I would reveal everything when it's near the final stages (or maybe after, imagine how busy I could already be by that time right?)

First of all, we decided on our wedding theme which is: Shabby Rustic Chic.  Why?  Since my mom passed away last year and of course couldn't be physically present when we wed, I still want her presence to be somehow felt by bringing some of her shabby stuff from home such as authentic leather small luggage, typewriter, crochet works, and DIY vases.  Plus with Rustic theme, I could DIY some of the wedding items.

For now, let me first share with you our wedding pegs:
VENUE:  We will choose a garden as our wedding ceremony and reception venue.  It's easy to have a rustic feel in a garden.

CEREMONY SET UP: I want pails along the aisle with Baby's Breath flowers, country chairs, the garden, simple and lovely.

RECEPTION SET UP: Old bottles, flowers, succulents, greens, paper flowers or pompoms, hanging glasses with flowers, laces, and burlap cloths.

INVITATION: DIY with paper doilies and crafty string, my personal drawing, our pic, and a little flower in the middle to send to invited guests (which is a handful only.)

SIGNAGES: Wooden scraps with hand-painted words on it to guide guests where the ceremony or reception is.
GIVEAWAYS:  We want to giveaway something we both love to share as a couple, COFFEE!  We're planning to get coffee grounds and repack them.  We were thinking also of giving away succulents to our wedding guests for them to take care of.

WEDDING GOWN/HEADPIECE: I am not after super designer wedding gowns anymore.  Feels kong mag ala-Kitchie-Nadal-peg.  But I want mom's wedding gown to be a part of what I'm going to wear.  I have an on-going search for her gown in her closet, I hope I find it.  If not, the peg wood be off-shoulders, lacey-lacey, simple gown and don't forget the flower crown (which my SIL's sister will be doing for me).

ENTOURAGE: Since it's rustic themed, I see patels for the girls, white tops for the boys, flower crowns for the girls, suspenders or bow ties for the boys.

At least even if we're only a few months away from the big day, we have a clear vision of how we want our wedding to be.  I am not called Mommy Practicality for nothing right, so cost and budget is also of great consideration.  But there are wedding items which I will not be frugal about like our wedding rings and photography, because they will last a long time.  I'll also be sharing tips in the coming posts on how to plan for a practical and intimate wedding.

Thanks loves, do wish me well as we have yet to conquer this new journey in our lives.  Until then!
